Businesses play a critical role in helping our region reach its waste reduction goal of 64 percent of solid waste by the year 2009, currently at 59 percent. By re:ducing waste, you save natural resources and energy, prevent pollution, and help the environment.

Nearly half of all the region's waste is generated by businesses, and most of that can still be re:cycled. For example, 25 percent of the waste that businesses throw away - more than 120,000 tons annually - is paper that is fully recyclable.
